Tim Guy taking on the Aussie Tours:
After some impressive results early in the 2008 Tour of Tasmania, Bathurst Cycling Club’s Tim Guy had moved into the top twenty overall. However disaster struck in stage 5 when the local Panasonic Contract rider had to change a wheel after contact with another rider and his support car couldn’t get assess to him for a quick change. The slow wheel change seen Guy back in the race well behind the peloton, with no chance of regaining the lost ground.

It was a disappointing result for Guy who ended up loosing over 42minutes in the stage, and now has no chance of featuring in the overall Classification. Earlier Guy lapped with leaders in the crucial hilly 3rd stage and started the eventful 5 stage only  2min 26sec behind the tour leader Kristian House from the very strong Budget Forklifts team. The Cat Mining Tour of Tasmania finishes on Sunday at Westbury after covering 580km in 6 days. Tim Guy looking to finish the tour strongly as he is using the event as preparation for the International 2008 Jayco Herald Sun Tour which starts at Traralgon, Victoria on the 13th October.

The UCI ranked Jayco Herald Sun Tour is Australia’s second biggest tour behind South Australia’s Tour Down Under, and although in the past both Mark Renshaw and Dean Windsor have contested the event, Tim Guy looks like being the Bathurst Club’s only starter with fellow debutant Blair Windsor unlikely to start in the Budget Forklifts team. Guy who is a former Orange resident will be a key member of his Panasonic team in the big Victorian Tour given his strong all round attributes. The Tour requiring power on the flats, strength on the climbs and toughness in the Time trial
